English

The important 3m France head office building of 41 000 m2 erected in 1973 at Cergy-Pontoise in the Marjoberts area – an area free from any other building at the time – was supposed to stimulate the growth of the most advanced new town. This very innovative building with its outside bearing walls made of Cor-Ten steel plates did not meet the expectations of the new town actors and was first much criticized. But gradually the building became the symbol of the new town associated with the image of successful dynamic.
