This article is based on the cartography of folk rituals established for various regions of Ukraine. The typology and geographical distribution of these rituals are deduced from three examples and their regional variants : the baptism meal and the use of the accompanying symbolic objects ; the first child’s haircut and the beliefs related to it ; the explanation, transmitted by tradition, given to the child on its origin.
