Early Ukrainian works on the women’s status within the family and society appear in the second half of the 19th century. This article tries to summarize the main research trends in this field : the development of the feminist movement as early as the 20th century, the evolution and difficulties of « gender » studies in the sovietic period and lastly the feminist problematics in Ukrainian postsovietic ethnology.
