From Photograph to Film: Digital Recording

Ethnology readily opposes photographical picture to filmed picture, and even more – in a research work – the production of pictures to writing. Yet, thanks to multimedia technologies visual techniques and writing can concur to open new ways of writing, thus creating a new object that accounts acurately for the observations and results of the ethnographic survey. This is demonstrated by a fieldwork carried out in the Goutte d’Or area of Paris : the various multimedia studies of this place have led to a new methodological reflexion in urban anthropology.
