The Three Ages of the Bedroom Culture

By Hervé Glevarec
English

“Bedroom culture” is an expression that encapsulates the new importance of the bedroom in the young generations’ lives which has taken place during the past fifty years. A survey conducted near children aged 7 to 13 and their parents reveals the differences of meaning of this room, which is at first a space to play, then a place to develop one’s autonomy and then expressivity, while being under parental control. This survey reveals the new precocity of children which is linked to the development of the new multimedia technologies, if not permitted by them.
