Spatial Diffusion and Rodeos

Bullfighting Hybridization from Europe to America
By Jean-Baptiste Maudet
English

The singular phenomenon of spatial diffusion of bullfighting and rodeo practices stems from their mutual transformations. Such phenomenon does not match that well with Hägerstrand's spatial diffusion theory which is widely used in the geographical analysis of sports diffusion. Actually, the diffusion and transformation of rodeo practices are based on a spatially uneven process of hybridation of Iberian bullfighting and cattle ranching techniques.
