Parisian Dance Halls: Entertainment for the Elderly

Each afternoon, in the shadowy light of Parisian dance halls, regular patrons dance together. Aged over sixty-five, smartly dressed, perfumed, and groomed, they tiptoe on the dance floor, endlessly reliving a part of their past. As ridiculous or pathetic as this social stage might look when seen from outside, going dancing is more than a way to kill time. There is the pleasure of meeting friends, experiencing the will to stand firm, dancing to the rhythm, and movement. However, under the pressure of land prices, these typically Parisian dance halls are progressively vanishing from the urban landscape.
