Territories in Question: Routes in Territories

English

The French music hall participates in the making of the dreamed and poetic image of Paris thanks to songs, paintings, and their suggestive decorations as well as in the presence of the dancers—the chorus girls, true allegories of the Parisian Woman. The Bal du Moulin Rouge alternates diurnal life and nightlife to build and maintain the aforementioned presentation. This paper discusses the dancers' looks and the specific construction which it requires as well as the jobs that contribute to it.
