Considering the use of spare time in the development of territories in western Brittany shows that two locations are undergoing specialization: a dense city where work and drudgery are concentrated, and a peri-urban space where spare time is scattered about and everything seems negotiable. This division is reinforced by the mayors' policies, which tend to develop the offer of leisure activities in the peri-urban communities.
