Female Croatian Labor Migrants in Munich: Social Networks, New Know-how, and Competencies

The article presents everyday experiences of Female Croatian labor migrants who work as domestic servants in Munich. The author describes their insertion into this informal labor market, their adaptation to the new life and work environment and their maintenance of ties with the homeland. She points out the importance of the development of (transnational) social networks and personal know-how and competences. The necessity of re-examining stereotypical images of Croatian domestic workers and their work in Germany is clearly stated.
