Laughter and unlikely capitals. For better and for worse

Capitals in lowercase
By Véronique Moulinié
English

Based on the example of three little towns (Moncrabeau, the liars’ capital; Cancon, the hazelnut capital; Condom, the condom capital) located in the southwest of France, the author analyzes the relationship between laughter and the identity of a town as a capital. The paper shows that accepting this identity as a capital depends less on the cause of its greatness than on the way it is staged.
