This article discusses the place of anthropology, as a discipline, in the Musée du Quai Branly’s museography and its cultural programmation. It offers a brief summary of the intentions that guided the creators of the establishment, and discusses the merits and shortcomings of its style of exhibition. The author then presents and analyses the research and teaching programs supported by or set up by the museum and their connections with the ethnological agenda.
