In spite of the empathy the anthropologist must express for its subject and field, upon practicing participant observation, it is more often conflicts that he (or she) experiences. Shouldn’t emotional troubles that his (or her) presence causes within the group studied as well as those he (or she) experiences be more openly dealt with when writing the results of the work for the academia ? Hired during two years as a consultant of a matrimonial agency of Pozna? to study group interactions, the author shares her experience of exploring group interactions.
