The Church as a factor of Ukrainian people’s ethnocultural evolution in the 20th century

This article presents the various attempts made to establish an independent orthodox Church in the early 20th century in Ukraine. The author analyzes the sowjet government’s policies toward the Church and the role of the latter in the Ukrainians’ social and cultural life. Lastly she examines the present state of the Church and the various expressions of “folk orthodoxy”.
