Dancing the Auvergne bourrée in a traditional ball

This article considers the Auvergne bourrée as an example of cultural heritage. The way it is practiced within traditional balls (bal trad), organized by the association Les Brayauds, challenges institutional models of heritagization. Based on a situated ethnography, it analyzes local epistemologies, modes of socialization, dance forms, and interactions in the context of the ball. This example underscores an experiential and pragmatic perspective, presenting the bourrée as a living and generative cultural heritage.
