This article is based on fieldwork among Ukrainian women who have settled in Normandy and the Hauts-de-France region since 2022. It examines four key aspects of exile trajectories to highlight the relational reconfigurations brought about by forced migration: the departure, in all its brutality; the mobilization of resources along a continuum of compassion during the journey; the reconfiguration of migration routes from one stage to another; and finally, how exile serves as a springboard for new arrivals through chain migration.
