Fleeing and writing. Ukrainian scholars in exile

Like more than six million Ukrainians, many academics, especially women, went into exile after the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. This article draws on fieldwork conducted in France, Poland, and Lithuania, including semi-structured qualitative interviews. Challenging the assumption that favorable institutional conditions Challenging the assumption that Ukrainian exiles are more easily integrated thanks to favourable institutional and professional conditions, the article shows that these individuals often find themselves in a precarious situation more than three years after their departure, despite benefiting from a wave of solidarity in 2022.
